This class is for anyone interested in taking an active role in their personal relationship with gravity.
Fellow Bodyworker, you can expect to gather unique insights and efficient techniques to apply in your practice.
This class is for those seeking knowledge and practical techniques to reduce tension and pain in the lower back and especially the hips.
The how, when and why of corrective massage and remedial movements to ease hip and lower back stress is the primary focus of this 90-minute workshop guided by Taum Sayers.
From teaching at the Edgar Cayce school in Virginia Beach to being invited to work on the US Ski Team and 49'ers, local Bodyworker and instructor Taum brings 40+ years of experience to share in this class.
Our body is continuously managing its state of balance. The medical term for this is 'Homeostasis' from the Greek words for "same" and "steady." Physical balance is an important component influencing Homeostasis and is active whenever we are upright.
When your lower back and hips are talking, one way to interpret the message is your muscular system is out of balance. Much like tires wearing un-even when our car's front end is out of balance, our body starts adapting, and stressful imbalance lights up the conversation.
This 90 min class includes:
A bit of anatomy and physiology, so you can understand what you are doing. These are the things I wish our early physical education classes included. Like 'Why does this hurt?'
A bit about repetitive muscular influences that affect our daily lives: Should you wonder about the cost of sitting, you may find this enlightening.
Visual guides that aid you in 'seeing' what is under your skin.
Guided self-help remedial movements for sprinkling across your day so that whenever your hips or lower back start talking, you can join the conversation with knowledge and remedial therapeutic techniques. (Most consume less than 20 seconds.)
Class size is limited to 12.
I would suggest bringing a foam roller, TheraCane, and your curiosity.
I order Theracane's in bulk, and they will be available. Please reserve yours early...
they sell out fast.
They are also available here.

Your hips and back are talking to you.
You know this is important.
You know you should reply...but how?
Trying to sleep, and your hip pain won't let you?
Getting out of the chair becoming harder?
Does your lower back sometimes feel heavy?
Is it time to upgrade and add to your self-help-Rolodex?
About two weeks after the class, I will be hosting a follow-up question-and-answer discussion via Zoom. The invitation will be sent out to the email you used to register for the class.
The ultimate pain relievers...knowledge and movement.
